We are a team of four ambitious Corvallis High School seniors
who are interested in furthering our education in engineering
and design. We are requesting your financial assistance for a
singular and exciting project: the construction of a state-of-the-art
carbon fiber electric car to race in the PGE Electron Run race
circuit and in the annual Da
Vinci Days Festival in Corvallis.

The objective of racing in the Electron Run is
to complete as many laps around a marked race course as is possible
in sixty minutes. The most important rule is the limitation of
sixty-four pounds of batteries, which power the vehicle. This
limit on energy dictates extreme ingenuity to optimize energy
use. In the past year over fifteen high schools from around the
state participated in the Oregon Electron Run Race Circuit. The
race circuit is the biggest of its kind in the world with over
a hundred cars in any given race.

In our freshman year we built and raced an electric car in the
Electron Run race circuit. We were successful in building a car
that could be raced, but couldn't compete at a very high level,
having just only learned the basic principals of design. Inspired
to create a car that could compete for first place, we made a
second vehicle in our sophomore year, Car
148. This car was paid for entirely by the generous contributions
and sponsorship of local businesses and individuals. This second
car has been racing for two years and has competed for the top
place holdings.

This next year will be our last as high school students and
we would like to create and race one last car. With this project
we will use our three years of experience to go to a more advanced
level of design, engineering, and manufacturing. We feel that
this experience will enable us to produce a vehicle using state-of-the-art
materials such as carbon fiber and kevlar composites. We already
have done some preliminary research and have received access to
a mold. Now we need financial support. The projected cost of this
car is two thousand five hundred dollars ($2500). This amount
would cover the cost of the entire vehicle including components
and materials, and would provide the opportunity for a fantastic
and enriching learning experience.

If you would like to assist us in this exciting project by
becoming a sponsor, we suggest a contribution between fifty dollars
($50) and five hundred dollars ($500). By becoming a sponsor you
are entitled to full recognition with your company's name or logo
prominently displayed on the side of the car, along with full
race coverage and standings. If you have any questions, and/or
are willing to make a donation please email
Seth Deutchman. We would love to hear from you. In order to
complete this car in time for the race season, we need to begin
construction this summer.
