Ahimsa Sanctuary is a non-profit permaculture-based retreat center dedicated to non-violence. We are located on 25 acres of magical rainforest in the Oregon Coast Range, less than an hour from most Willamette Valley locations and two hours from the Portland Metro area. Events and retreats are offered on a donation basis, with contributions used to support nonviolence education projects. Free the Songwriter Within!
Get the juices flowing with creative writing exercises which encourage participants to write non-judgmentally. Together we will each write a song while exploring issues such as song structure, lyrics, dramatic shape, melody and artistic intent.  Teaching methods based on Natalie Goldberg's "Writing Down the Bones" and Jimmy Webb's "Tunesmith".  All levels and musical abilities are welcome.

Meet the Stewards of Ahimsa Sanctuary:
Ocean (aka Stephen Liff-Anderson)
shares experience in counseling and emotional healing, focusing on renewing relationships, resolving conflict, building sustainable communities and liberating the human spirit. He also offers professional consulting in organizational wellness, consensus process and workplace liberation. Ocean is a graduate of Cornell University and Oregon State University. His passions include all forms of hydrotherapy (hot and cold!), bicycling, exploring the Coast and romancing his soulmate Intaba.

Intaba (aka Marlene Liff-Anderson) shares experience in nutritional health and cooking instruction, specializing in vegetarian and vegan healing diets. Intaba trained in macrobiotics at the Kushi Institute in Western Massachusetts and completed professional chefs training at the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in New York. She has a life-long devotion to Eastern Spirituality, contemplative practice and ecosustainable living. Intaba is the mother of 19-year-old twins Seth & Shawn, who will gladly engage you in lively conversations on politics, dogs or Electric Race Car Design!
